Just ordered the album, having finished reading the book Street Boys late last night.

Spent yesterday afternoon at the Coldharbour Neighbourhood Community Policing Committee, and it just strikes me that somehow everyone on Angell Town manages to pull in different directions whilst claiming to all want exactly the same things. It's like the estate exists in two parallel worlds that simply don't recognise each other's existence.

Somehow we have to change this. It's doing my head in. There is so much talent and intelligence on this estate, and so much love and concern. Yet we manage to waste so much of it in refusing to see beyond out own noses. It can't go on like this. It's such a waste.

We have the nice new flats. Now everyone seems to have stopped trying. We didn't get given a newly done up estate. We went and bloody made it happen. Now everyone seems to be waiting for somebody else to do something more. We need to be moving on ourselves and not vainly waiting for some magical help from elsewhere. You are one of the few examples of somebody on Angell Town showing some real ambition.

I'm tired of people talking about "get the youth some training and they might be able to get food jobs". That's not enough ambition. Before I die I want to see kids from Angell Town writing Booker Prize winning novels, winning Oscars, with no space on their walls for their latest platinum disks, winning Olympic gold medals, discovering the cure for cancer, and winning Nobel Prizes. Whatever we dream we always fall a little short. So we must dream big, because then we can fall short and still be amazing. Dreaming of adequacy is no good. It leaves us nowhere when we fail.

Anyway. Good luck. You're an inspiration. See you around.
